What is the difference between Investment Account and Portfolio?

Modified on Thu, 12 Feb at 8:02 PM

1. Investment Account:

  • This is the main account in our system, where your funds are held.

  • It exists in 5 currencies (PLN, EUR, USD, GBP, CHF).

  • All deposits, withdrawals, and transfers happen through the investment account.

  • Think of it as a “wallet” that holds money in different currencies.

2. Portfolio:

  • A portfolio is where your money is actively invested in stocks, ETFs, or funds.

  • You can have multiple portfolios under one investment account.

  • Portfolios are investment products, not accounts themselves.

  • Each portfolio can be managed independently: you can invest, monitor performance, or close it without affecting your investment account balance directly.

Key Point:

  • You cannot invest directly from your bank account. First, funds must be in your investment account.

  • Portfolios draw money from your investment account when you invest, and profits are credited back to the investment account.
