Information on price alerts at the online currency exchange

The Currency Alerts (Price Alerts) feature in the UniCredit mobile app means you no longer need to check exchange rate tables manually every day. Simply set your desired exchange rate for any currency pair available in our Online Exchange (e.g. USD, EUR, PLN, CHF, GBP), and we’ll send you a push notification when the market reaches your specified level.

At present, Currency Alerts are for information purposes only - they send a push notification, but you carry out the transaction yourself. We are working on introducing automatic currency exchange orders and will let you know when they become available in future app updates.

How do price alerts work?

To ensure you get the most out of this feature, alerts operate on the ‘better price’ principle:

  • Buying currency: The target rate must be lower than the current market rate.
  • Selling currency: The target rate must be higher than the current market rate.

Note: Entering a rate that is worse than or equal to the current market rate will prevent you from saving the alert and display an error message.

Validity period (Alert validity)

  • Default period: Each new alert is automatically set to 7 days.
  • Flexibility: When creating an alert, you can choose your own expiry date – up to a maximum of 30 days from the date of creation.

How do I enable push notifications?

Notifications when a price is reached are sent exclusively as push notifications to your phone (the service does not send text messages or emails). To receive a notification, ensure that you have enabled push notifications:

  • iOS (iPhone): Settings → Notifications → UniCredit app → Turn on ‘Allow Notifications’.
  • Android: Settings → Apps → UniCredit → Notifications → Turn on ‘Show notifications’.

How to set up a Currency Alert in 6 steps?

  1. Open the UniCredit mobile app and go to More → Online Currency Exchange.
  2. Go to the Orders and Alerts tab.
  3. Select Add order or alert, then Price alert.
  4. Select the currencies in the ‘I want to exchange’ and ‘I want to receive’ sections.
  5. Enter your ‘Expected exchange rate’ and select the ‘Expiry date’ (from 1 to a maximum of 30 days).
  6. Tap ‘Continue’ to confirm the alert.

When does the alert become inactive?

The alert automatically changes its status and is deactivated in one of three scenarios:

  1. Execution: The market rate has reached or exceeded the level you set (at which point we send a push notification).
  2. Expiry: The alert’s set validity period has elapsed and the rate has not been reached.
  3. Cancellation: You have manually deleted or modified the alert in the ‘Orders and Alerts’ tab.

Answers to further questions

  • Will a price alert automatically exchange my money?
  • No. A price alert is for information purposes only. It sends a notification when the market reaches the selected exchange rate, but does not automatically execute a buy or sell transaction. You retain full control over the exchange.
  • Where can I check my active alerts?
You’ll find all the alerts you’ve created in the section: More → Online Currency Exchange → Orders and Alerts. You can also delete them at any time from there.
